I got assigned jury duty for Monday the 14th, the first day of my college finals. I was actually looking forward to serving. The legal system interests me, and it’s a federal court, which is kinda cool. Looks like I’ll be calling for an exemption, because I’m afraid the trial will be a longer one and it will mess up my tests.

Same thing happened to me. Unlike most people, I actually want to serve on a jury. But the only time I’ve ever been called was right in the middle of law school finals. I keep hoping I’ll get another shot. My current job is really accomodating for jury duty, too.

Be careful what you wish for, a few years back my mom got put on a massive grand jury case that lasted well over a month. By the 2nd week she absolutely hated it. Also the case was very disturbing so to deal with it for that many weeks was not ideal.

I got to sit on the jury of a Murder trial some years back. On one hand it was fascinating, on the other hand it was frustrating. No one on the jury seemed to know what we were supposed to do and anytime we had a question the Judge insisted on repeating the same extremely vague instructions.
